Chickens are a charming addition to any homestead or farm.  There is a poise and beauty about them as they contentedly roam about, but at the same time their antics can bring a smile to anyone's face.  There are many benefits of having chickens out and about on your property.  They are fabulous bug eaters.  We have watched them snatch flies right out of the air.  They eat the larva of any insect, so new flies or pests will not be a nuisance. They will kill and eat snakes (including rattlers), mice, rats, and other pests.
